What is Taekwondo?

A martial art with a long history

Taekwondo is the Korea’s own martial art developed with Korea’s 5,000 years of history and a modern Olympic sport. Taekwondo eventually drew world-wide attention. Both Korean Military and National Police Force adopted Taekwondo as their regular training curriculum. Primary to University, Companies and Suburbs have their own competition sparring team to do championships. Also there is a traditional Do-jang (Drill Hall) all over the area. Translated, Taekwondo means ‘Art of Kicking and Punching’.

Tae Kwon Do . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . “A Way of  Life”.

Taekwondo stylist uses punching, blocking, jumping and dodging along with a vast array of kicks to formulate a system of unarmed defence weapon with an emphasis on building a strong moral character. Taekwondo seeks for perfection and mental completion by physical training and is also based on instinct of self defence.

What is Grading?

Grading is an exciting event for us!

Korean Taekwondo School holds promotional grading every 3 months. The goal of grading is to move up through the ranks so that you can learn new skill. 3 months (more than 20 sessions) allows most students to progress smoothly.

However, we recognize that every student is an individual, and no one is ever required to test if they are not ready. An instructor will tell the student when they are ready to test. Then about a week after a successful grading, the student is awarded a new rank and given a rank certificate.
